On the 19th March 1812 the First Spanish Constitution was promulgated in Cádiz. It was the first Spanish Constitution as the one in 1808 never went into effect.

As it was passed on St. Joseph's day it was called La Pepa.
This year we celebrate the second centenary of this law.
This is why we say "¡Viva la Pepa!"
