Happy Days for Boys and Girls

In today's class we have two tasks:

1. Design a logo for our project. Bear in mind that this is the summary of your project: The Universal Declaration of Human Rights says, on its first article, that “all human beings are born equal in dignity and rights”. However, even in the 21st century, the opportunities are not always the same for men and for women. Sometimes, in some small details, the society tends to divide the world of boys and the world of girls, keeping barriers between them.
   With this project, we want to work with our students that girls and boys should have the same rights in this open and free world that we live. You can use a white sheet and a pen or any photo editing program.
2. The other option is to choose one or two slides and work on this presentation about Guntín and our school. We want to show our school and school life to the other members of the project.

eTwinning project

This is our new eTwinning project: Happy Days for Boys and Girls.

The first task is the introduction. Choose your own slide and write down an introduction so that the other members in the project can get to know you.

Today's eTwinning session

These are the activities we'll have in today's class:

4. If you haven't written anything here yet, write about Music in My Life.
5. This is a bit more difficult. Set the TIMER in your mobile phone. Go to this game and match singer and song. As soon as you finish, take a screenshot of the timer and share it in the forum, together with your comments.
6. The last activity of this project is about sharing images or videos on Instagram with the hashtags:

7. We should upload some videos or images and tell about our impressions  on music, videogames or free time activities in general. This would be the final evaluation of the project, so interaction with the other members of the project is essential.

• GROUP 1: Presentation about free time activities in general. In this presentation students will show and comment on their favourite and popular free time activities.
• GROUP 2: Design a questionnaire that will be administered to all the students in the project in a couple of weeks. After you have the questions, these should be written in a Google Form and the link will be passed to the teachers/students in the project. Try not to have too many questions but enough to cover all the possible free time activities you can think of. The purpose will be to know as much as possible about what we do in our frree time.

Today's eTwinning class

Today we are going to have a chat/video session with our Lithuanian partners.  The Ukranian school is not available for exchange this week but we hope they will soon be with us.

1. First, log in at the Twinspace.
2. While the session is being organised, just have a look at the messages in the forum and communicate with the students who have introduced themselves there.
3. Then, open the chatroom, write an introductory message and wait for the other students to come.
4. Then, open the video room and sign in. We'll try and communicate with the other school. if this does not work, we'll continue with the other chatroom.
5. Then, before or after the activity, you can try the grammar exercises in the blog about present perfect and past simple.

First of all, we are going to decide which of these two types of project we want to start:

After giving our opinion about the project we are going to play the game Odd Man Out, in which we must justify why one of the words in each of the rows is different to all the others. For example:

Possible answers:

• Season is different because it is the only one which is not the name of one of the four seasons.
• Autumn is different because it is the only one which starts with a vowel.
• Spring is different because it is the only one-syllable word in the row.

 Any answer is correct provided you justify it correctly.

Today's class

1. Choose the logo for the project. The three logos are at the bottom and you cannot vote for number 1 as it is from this school.
2. The Lithuanian eTwinning teacher wrote to us: Hi again, I've got a request for you and your students. You see Lithuania is celebrating its one hundredth anniversary of restoration on February 16th (http://www.lietuva.lt/100/en), so we are trying to commemorate and celebrate this occasion in creative ways. If you could send a short congratulation to our country, we would cordially be grateful and share it with our school community. I wish you could make a short video and say some words in Lithuanian (I can record something to help you memorise) or you could make a poster or make a photo with our flag which is yellow, green and red.  So if you could join the celebration, you would make us feel proud of our etwinning partners. Looking forward to your reply.

4. This year we are going to have a "Messages in English" competition. Choose the strangest messages on T-shirts, clothes, adverts, etc. that you can find. We'll have a final display on the corridor walls.
